MS-CC Cyberinfrastructure and Cybersecurity Workshop
Improving your institution’s cyberinfrastructure and cybersecurity posture is priceless.
The Minority Serving – Cyberinfrastructure Consortium (MS-CC) held a free two-day cyberinfrastructure and cybersecurity workshop from Nov. 1-2, 2022, on the Jackson State University campus in Jackson, Miss.
We’ve designed a hands-on workshop experience with IT leadership staff, university presidents and chancellors, and faculty from historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in mind. This workshop program will address why cyberinfrastructure is important to your campus, your faculty, and your grant funding; provide informational sessions on what you need to know about federal funding opportunities for HBCUs, and facilitate interactive discussions about cybersecurity threats with industry subject matter experts.
The workshop was funded by the National Science Foundation’s Cyberinfrastructure Center of Excellence Demonstration Pilot (# 2137123) awarded to the Minority Serving – Cyberinfrastructure Consortium (MS-CC) and Internet2.
MS-CC Workshop Series
The MS-CC and Internet2 are planning additional workshops in the southeastern United States for early 2023, including at Claflin University in Orangeburg, S.C.

Reimbursements
As an MS-CC participant, we will be able to reimburse reasonable travel and lodging expenses related to workshop attendance. After your registration is processed you will receive additional information via email about the expense reimbursement process.

What Workshop Participants Can Expect
The two-day workshop agenda is designed around two themes: Cyberinfrastructure and Cybersecurity. The workshop program includes keynote presentations, panel discussions with cyberinfrastructure and cybersecurity leaders, facilitated group discussions, and hands-on learning opportunities, including access to open-source security tools and documented best practices for campus infrastructure.
Informal networking opportunities provide you with opportunities to meet and build connections with your peers and cybersecurity professionals and leadership from regional and national non-profit organizations supporting the research and education community in the U.S.
