By Apryl Motley – Communications Consultant, MS-CC

Meet the MS-CC Spotlight

Editor’s Note: This Q&A continues off our series of short interviews spotlighting members of the MS-CC community. Be on the lookout for additional interviews each month, and email Apryl Motley if there’s an MS-CC community member you like us to spotlight in the future or if you would like to be in the spotlight yourself. We appreciate community members and all they do to move our mission forward.

A cyberinfrastructure and cybersecurity workshop held on her campus last spring sparked Jori Dale’s interest in the MS-CC. As a librarian at Prairie View A&M University,  she “loves nurturing people’s ideas and dreams with research and tools to turn them into a reality.” Access to MS-CC community resources is helping her do what she loves. Here’s her perspective on how participation in the MS-CC benefits her and her institution.

Q: How does participation in the MS-CC help you in your current role?

MS-CC has opened my eyes to a whole new world, and it helps me do a multitude of things, such as assisting with technology usage on campus, constructing AI policy for the campus, assisting with integrating AI and other technologies into the classroom, and producing tailored resources that will better serve my community.

Q: Is there a particular resource that you find especially useful?

The MS-CC website has all previous talks or resources for educators and technology professionals to refer to for knowledge and professional development.

Q: What would you say to encourage other institutions to participate in the MS-CC?

The MS-CC is the best resource right now to stay updated on the resources, tools, technology, and security standards for all schools that are research institutions. Still, it especially benefits underserved institutions and provides resources and funding to even the field for our institutions’ students, staff, and faculty.

Q: Why does participation in the MS-CC continue to be important for you?

MS-CC has changed my life! It has opened my eyes to the more that I was looking for, and I now am pursuing my certifications in cybersecurity. This community has also been welcoming and amazing to be a part of and has helped me become the professional I am today by allowing me to develop myself but also expand my professional knowledge through presentations and participation in the community of practice. I am blessed to have been introduced to the MS-CC.
