It has been an exciting, yet busy fall season for the Minority Serving- Cyberinfrastructure Consortium (MS-CC) as we participated in multiple community engagement opportunities. We are heading to our final stop this year, and are looking forward to participating in the 2022 Internet2 Technology Exchange (TechEX) in Denver, Colorado, from Dec. 5-9.
Congratulations to the Scholarship Winners
New this year, the MS-CC is offering scholarships to support MS-CC participants taking part in TechEX. This year’s scholarship winners are:
- Alecia Anderton-Georgie, assistant professor, Shaw University;
- Li Bingdong, chief information security officer, Tennessee State University;
- Suryadip Chakraborty, associate professor, Johnson C. Smith University;
- Gardea Jaywhehgar, technology support analyst, North Carolina A&T State University;
- Xiaohong Li, vice president of information and institutional effectiveness, Taft College;
- Courtney Nash, assistant director of infrastructure, North Carolina Central University;
- Darian Quick, university events specialist, North Carolina A&T State University; and
- Maurice Tyler, vice president of information technology and chief information officer, Bowie State University.
These recipients represent institutional participants from the MS-CC and will get the chance to network with peers while attending sessions focused on information security, advanced networking, research engagement, cloud computing, and identity and access management. Please join us in congratulating this year’s scholarship recipients!
MS-CC Lunch and Learn Session
Scholarship recipients will also have the opportunity to participate in the MS-CC lunch and learn session taking place on Dec. 6 from 12:10 – 1:40 p.m. MT. They will join the discussion to highlight campus perspectives and experiences from institutions that are part of the MS-CC’s thriving community of historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), tribal colleges and universities (TCUs), Hispanic-serving institutions (HSIs), and other minority-serving institutions (MSIs).
Leading the lunch and learn presentation will be Lawrence Williams, MS-CC director; Ana Hunsinger, vice president of community engagement at Internet2; Al Anderson, chief information officer at Salish Kootenai College and MS-CC leadership council member; and Henry (Tom) Jackson, vice chancellor for Information technology and chief information officer at North Carolina A&T State University and MS-CC leadership council member.

Are you attending TechEX? Mark your calendar for Dec. 6 at 12:10 p.m. MT and join us for our lunch and learn session. There you will meet representatives from the MS-CC Leadership Council, our scholarship winners, and MS-CC community participants as we discuss our holistic approach to enabling IT for research on the campuses of HBCUs, TCUs, HSIs, and other MSIs.
