The Minority Serving – Cyberinfrastructure Consortium (MS-CC) welcomes Amanda Lehr as our new associate director for research development.
Amanda brings over a decade of experience at the intersection of research, technology, and workforce development to this newly created position. Most recently, she served as a program manager for Internet2’s NET+ CLASS program, leading cloud and AI training initiatives across the national research and higher education community.
Her career path began in the geosciences when she earned her Ph.D. in environmental engineering with a focus on water resources management and remote sensing from the University of Washington. This foundation evolved into a career dedicated to helping scientists address complex environmental challenges through advanced technologies. At the University of Washington’s eScience Institute, she worked closely with faculty, researchers, and policy makers to implement data science and cloud solutions across multiple scientific domains.

As a published author in peer-reviewed journals—including the Journal of Geophysical Research—Amanda has contributed valuable research on environmental systems and the impacts of long-term changes in earth processes. She has been awarded multiple research grants throughout her career, including funding from the National Science Foundation and NASA. Amanda has also facilitated workshops and shared her scientific insights at national conferences, helping to bridge the gap between research, technology, and practical application.
In her new role, Amanda will focus on the MS-CC’s planetary resilience initiatives. She will develop strategic programs and partnerships that expand cyberinfrastructure access and accelerate research specific to planetary resilience within the MS-CC community. She will collaborate with faculty, research staff, and institutional leaders to strengthen grant readiness, identify opportunities for collaboration, and support capacity-building initiatives for planetary resilience aligned with MS-CC’s mission.
We welcome Amanda and look forward to the expertise and leadership she brings to our community. You can reach Amanda by contacting her at atan@internet2.edu.
