The application for the 2026 MS-CC Undergraduate Summer Research Internship officially opened this week. For the second year, this 10-week, paid summer internship will take place at Fisk University in partnership with Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tenn., offering a wonderful opportunity for students intrigued by how technology can further research.
“We’re excited to return to Fisk University this summer,” said Alexia Jones, the MS-CC’s senior program manager. “The university’s partnership with Meharry Medical College sets the stage for undergraduate students to conduct cutting-edge research while learning to apply computational and data-intensive approaches to their work.”
The 2025 class of interns thoroughly enjoyed their summer at the university, especially the opportunity for collaborating with their peers and mentors. As an intern from Bowie State University observed, “when everyone is engaged and committed to the work, it creates a strong team dynamic and makes the whole experience more impactful.”
This year’s internship promises to be just as impactful.

What Students Can Expect
The internship program will run from June 1-August 7, 2026. Working with faculty mentors, students will complete team-based research projects. In the process, undergraduate student interns will:
- Gain knowledge and skills from peers and mentors.
- Learn the value of mentorship and collaboration in research.
- Develop transferable career skills in an interdisciplinary setting.
- Expand their network and build new connections
The Internship covers airfare, housing, meals, and a $7,000 stipend per student for the duration of the 10 weeks. Students participate in field trips, virtual group sessions with other students and mentors, and additional opportunities to engage with experts.
