The Minority Serving – Cyberinfrastructure Consortium (MS-CC) is excited to announce the launch of a Request for Proposals (RFP) for our National Science Foundation-funded program to establish partnerships with Historically Black Universities (HBCU) and Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCU) and select a host site for the MS-CC Interdisciplinary Training-Accessible Research Technology (IT-ART) internship program.
The RFP outlines the requirements, selection criteria, and timeline for proposals. We encourage you to review the details and consider how your institution can contribute to this important initiative.
The MS-CC Interdisciplinary Training-Accessible Research Technology (IT-ART) internship program aims to offer students the chance to apply computational and data-intensive approaches to research areas relevant to climate science and climate change research. The program will bring together faculty with expertise in marine science, agriculture, and water science, atmospheric science and meteorology, data science, computer science, and other academic programs informing climate science research. Additionally, the selected host site should plan to organize field trips, in-person group sessions with other students and mentors, and additional opportunities to engage with experts in the climate science and cyberinfrastructure sector.
2025 MS-CC IT-ART Internship Goals:
- Engaging undergraduate student interns in collaborative, data-driven research within the fields of climate science and cyberinfrastructure.
- Familiarizing student interns with a diverse array of technology tools and resources essential for data-centric research, collectively known as cyberinfrastructure.
- Providing training and experience in essential research skills and professional practices, such as experimental design, data analysis, identification of background resources, and scientific communication.
- Fostering cross-organizational collaboration by facilitating engagement between students, climate scientists, and research technology professionals.
The MS-CC seeks a host campus for the 2025 IT-ART Internship Program. The primary host campus may list satellite campuses or collaborative centers as secondary campuses for their submission.
