Yes, anyone is welcome to apply, but per our grant funding, priority will be given to applicants from HBCUs and TCUs.
Yes, watch your email and the i2-ms-cc Slack channel for announcements about office hours.
No, you prepare a project description, budget, budget narrative, and letters of support.
Fewer than five pages is acceptable if you can address the requirements outlined in the instructions and review criteria.
Your budget should be a simple spreadsheet with line items for each requested expenditure, sub-totals, and totals.
You should follow your institution’s policies on indirect costs in grant applications. We expect to fund indirect costs at your negotiated rate, if you have one. However, this can changed based on our funding agency’s directives.
We anticipate opening applications for a second cohort with a prospective application deadline in late October 2025.
Selection Process and Timeline for Subaward
This will depend on the cumulative requested budget of all applications selected for funding. If the requested budgets are smaller than the allocated budget, more applications will be selected.
We expect to notify applicants of selection on June 20, 2025.
The award mechanism we will use is a cost reimbursement subaward, which requires NSF prior approval per our award terms. Therefore, we must submit your project description and budget to NSF for approval before issuing the subaward to your institution.
Please refer to your institutional policies on submitting requests for external funding support. Most institutions require that their authorized official/grants office be notified before submitting a funding application, and we will require that selected projects provide an audit report and other compliance-related materials before we can issue an award.
